Since the fall of 1997, LJA has been providing full surveying and engineering services for a new master planned community in Lake Jackson, Texas.
North Wood is a 150-acre development located on the northeast corner of newly completed State
Highway 288 and FM 2004. The first phase, currently under development, involves 42 acres and
94 of the total 265 lots.
Brazosport School District purchased 15 acres to construct a school within the community. In
addition, 20 acres of the property have been dedicated to an amenity lake. The stocked lake,
approximately 6 to 10 feet deep, will serve detention, drainage and wetlands mitigation purposes
while providing recreational use for residents. When the development is complete, more than 90
of the wooded, oversized lots will include lake frontage.

North Wood, a development of North Wood Development Corporation, is designed to preserve
as many of the mature trees on the site as possible -- in keeping with Lake Jackson's reputation as
"Tree City U.S.A." In addition, North Wood includes the first use of a linear park for the Lake Jackson area, with a two-mile forested buffer between the development and the highway. John
Perry, LJA vice president states, "This project is a great example of LJA's ability to work with the natural environment, preserving and enhancing the project's natural features, while adding value
to the development."
Said Bruce Walters, a partner of North Wood Development, "We are pioneering in many ways --
into a new territory, with a new caliber of development."
LJA's scope of services for North Wood include platting and surveying, master planning and
engineering design and construction management on infrastructure including water, sewer,
drainage and paving.
