STAFFORD RUN BRINGS FINAL CHAPTER IN EASTERN FORT BEND COUNTY

After providing the Fort Bend Flood Control Water Supply Corporation (FBFCWSC) and the Commissioner's Court with a detailed analysis, LJA Engineering & Surveying was hired to provide full design, surveying, and construction administration for Phase II of the Stafford Run project.

The 8,500-foot channel improvement and clean-out work involves three segments, crossing both the City of Stafford and Missouri City jurisdictions. The purpose of the $500,000 project is two-fold: 1) To lower pond water levels and increase storage volume for future development upstream of the Stafford Run Detention Pond, and 2) To convey future development flows to the pond area.

The Phase II project represents a 15-year relationship between LJA and FBFCWSC, "The objective was to provide the ultimate channel improvements for 100% development in the Stafford Run, Middle Oyster Creek, and Flat Bank Creek Watersheds in East Fort Bend County, " said Omar Escobar, LJA project manager.

LJA also provided full design, surveying, and construction administration services for the Fort Bend County Phase I Capital Improvement Project for channel improvements to Flat Bank Creek, the Flat Bank Creek Diversion, Steepbank Creek, Middle Oyster Creek, and Stafford Run Creek. The value of the Phase I project totaled approximately $30 million and was constructed between 1989 and 1998.
