Hearts & Hammers, a program managed by the Fort Bend County CORPS, organizes volunteers and raises money to revitalize low-income areas in Fort Bend County. The organization's primary focus is to provide home repair assistance to restore safe and decent housing for low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in Fort Bend County who are physically and financially unable to make needed repairs themselves.
The LJA volunteers spent two weekends this past spring pressure washing and painting the house, and replacing window screens, siding and trim to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Reed, Fort Bend residents for over 52 years. LJA employees were also able to donate landscaping and food for the Reeds.
In addition, LJA Engineering made a contribution to the Fort Bend Corps covering the costs of the materials needed for the home's repairs.
