LJA Engineering continues to provide engineering services for Kings Manor, a 318-acre, mixed-use community northeast of Houston, although ownership and the scope of work have changed.
Friendswood Development Company, a client of LJA on several projects in Clear Lake City and Kingwood, recently acquired the remaining 184 acres of the Kings Manor site which are still to be developed.
According to Keith Schoonover, P.E., of Friendswood Development Company, "The intent is to make Kings Manor more aligned with another Friendswood Development Company project, neighboring landmark Kingwood. The 'Livable Forest' quality is created by adding open space, green belts, and preserving forest whenever possible."

Continuing work begun in 1989, LJA is providing infrastructure design on the main portion of the development, which includes single family residential and apartment homes. LJA is also working on a wastewater treatment plant expansion, lift station and ditch improvements for the area. "We are excited to be working with Friendswood Development Company on yet another of their premier Houston projects," says Bill Ehler, P.E., LJA project manager.
With three sections complete, LJA continues to provide water, sewer and drainage engineering for subsequent sections of single-family homes, patio homes and apartment complexes. Plans are to complete the community in 2005.
