Texans Traffic Management Plan Awarded

Houston is eagerly awaiting the completion of Reliant Stadium and the approach of the NFL's Houston Texans 2002 inaugural season. Current and future infrastructure improvement projects will have an impact on both pedestrian and vehicular traffic around Reliant Park. The Houston Texans, Reliant Park, and the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation needed to develop a traffic management plan to provide adequate traffic control measures to insure safe and quick access to and from Reliant Park for both pre-game and post-game time intervals.

LJA was retained by Reliant Park to develop a traffic management plan for the Reliant Park area. Linc Wright, P.E., LJA's Transportation Division Manager, will serve as Project Manager on this project.

Key issues to be identified in the plan include:
  • Identify approach and departure routes to Reliant Park
  • Determine the need for road closures and identify those locations
  • Provide recommendations for the placement of police officers for both pre-game and post-game traffic
  • Develop all necessary on-site/off-site traffic control plans
  • Develop signing plans
  • Identify METRO lift and taxi/limo routes
  • Identify pick up/drop off areas
